Strengthening Governance

NEMAF empowers people of the marginalized communities at different levels to make them aware of the law making & budget making processes and also engages with government officials to strengthen governance at different levels.

From 2017 to March,2020, NEMAF was engaged with Dalit law makers and activists of province 2 by making them aware on law making and budget making processes in the province.

From 2014 to 2018, NEMAF had formed a loose network of 1200 marginalized people in five districts of the Mithila belt of Terai/Madhesh. During that period, NEMAF was working in 20 VDCs of Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusa, Mahottari and Sarlahi. In each of those VDCs, four civil pressure group (CPG)s were formed with each CPG having 15 members from the marginalized communities. In this process, NEMAF had selected 3 service providers, who were the members of VDC offices, schools and health post in each VDC. By engaging both separately and jointly with the demand and supply sides in this regard, significant improvement was seen in the process of governance of those institutions.
